Authors
Poonam Mishra
Abstract
Malnutrition is a significant public health concern in India, affecting
millions of children under the age of five. It can lead to impaired growth,
weakened immune systems, and increased risk of mortality. This article provides
an overview of the causes and consequences of malnutrition in children and offers
practical strategies for prevention. We will discuss the importance of
breastfeeding, proper infant and young child feeding practices, dietary
diversity, and access to essential micronutrients. Additionally, we will
highlight the role of healthcare systems, community engagement, and policy
initiatives in preventing malnutrition. By adopting a multi-faceted approach,
we can work towards ensuring that all children in India receive the necessary
nutrients for optimal growth and development.
